The Bowery Mission seeks a new Institutional Giving Manager to join a passionate and growing team to help raise critical funds necessary to transform lives at The Bowery Mission. The Institutional Giving Manager leads the foundation giving strategy for The Bowery Mission, overseeing all activities related to grant proposals and reports for private and corporate foundations and other institutions. The Institutional Giving Manager collaborates with the Chief Development Officer, the CEO, other members of the development team to lead and support all grant-related activities and an annual revenue goal of $1.5 million.
The Institutional Giving Manager develops effective written content, program metrics, and financial documents, and packages these in a timely manner to meet all proposal and report deadlines. The Institutional Giving Manager supervises and collaborates closely with the Development Officer, Foundations. Within the Development Team, the Institutional Giving Manager is a primary collector, organizer, and communicator of relevant information on program operations. The Institutional Giving Manager is an expert in grant writing, has supervisory skills, and cares deeply about the men, women, and children that The Bowery Mission serves.

Why The Bowery Mission, and why now? The Bowery Mission has served men and women experiencing homelessness every day since the COVID-19 pandemic began—and for nearly 150 years before that. The Bowery Mission has stood with New Yorkers in their time of need through crises including the 1918 flu pandemic, 9/11, Hurricane Sandy and now the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time in our city’s history, as the needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness and poverty continue to grow, we have been making strategic investments in order to offer radical hospitality and individualized care to each person who comes through our doors. We invite guests and clients to choose help and make progress through our programs in the context of a supportive and caring community.
With the growing number of people experiencing homelessness and poverty and the urgency of the need, our Development Team is responsible for an annual revenue budget of $17.8M in FY 2022.

In partnership with the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, we have modified our services to stay up-to-date with the latest health and safety guidelines that continuously evolve based upon new information and research. We greatly value the contributions of essential workers in roles like this one and have designed protocols around personal protective equipment, social distancing, cleaning and sanitation, and building capacity in order to protect our staff and those we serve.
