A critical member of the Development Team, the Development Officer, Foundations takes the lead on all grant-related opportunities for foundations, corporations, and other institutions.  


The Development Officer, Foundations will develop compelling narratives; strong sets of program metrics; and customized financial documents for a wide variety of programs serving those experiencing homelessness and poverty.


The successful applicant will demonstrate strong skills in writing and project management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure proposal deadlines are met in a timely manner. The Development Officer, Foundations will be responsible for cultivating and stewarding a caseload of foundation partners.


Reports to: Senior Director, Partnerships 



  • Embraces the organization’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field OR equivalent experience in a professional writing capacity.
  • Excellent written communication skills; demonstrated ability to relay complex information with precision, clarity, and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in project management and the ability to meet a variety of deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  
  • High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office software.
  • High integrity that builds trust with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Experience in cultivating and stewarding foundation relationships.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent customer database.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis and reporting.
